Taking a Road Trip Across the United States
For people who are not fond of traveling, a road trip vacation might not be something they would want to do. For those who really enjoy traveling, a road trip vacation would be a perfect adventure. If you are a really spontaneous person, you might just decide to get in the car and start driving, and see where you end up. For the less spontaneous people, a travel plan might be needed.
The first thing you need to do is get a road map of the United States and plan out where you want to go, if you just want to drive across the state you live in or if you want to drive through a couple of different states. Or, maybe you are interested in driving through a certain region.
You might also want to decide some of the different places you would like to visit in each town you drive through. Maybe you have seen the show Diners, Drive-In’s, and Dives, where the host travels to different restaurants sampling some of their dishes. Maybe that is something that would interest you, stopping at a small town café or restaurant in each town you drive through.
Once you have decided on those two things, you need to decide the date and time you plan on leaving and the date you plan on returning home. Maybe you could plan out how long it will take you to get to each place and then be able to estimate how long you will be gone.
With all of those decisions made, you are finally ready to leave on your road trip. Make sure you have your clothes and toiletries packed, as well as a camera and maybe a road trip journal so you can write down interesting things about each town you stop in. Be sure to have enough traveler’s checks, credit cards, or cash for your trip. You don’t want to end up stranded with not enough money to get back home.
If you plan on spending the nights of your road trip in a hotel, you might want to call the hotels along your route to see if reservations are needed. If you don’t call ahead of time you might end up finding that there are no rooms available, and then you would have to drive through the night until you did find a vacancy.
With all of your plans arranged, suitcases packed, and money in wallet, you are now ready to load the car and leave. Have fun and enjoy the trip!
